To improve the quality of life on the Blvd
Have you noticed Stockton Boulevard is looking a lot better and cleaner lately? That's because The Community Pride Litter Patrol assigned to pick up litter along the Boulevard is hard at work. The men and women of Gould Services improve our appearance as well as provide meaningful job opportunities to some of our neighbors. You'll recognize our crew by the bright colored safety vests they wear as they go about their clean-up tasks daily.
The Streetscape Improvement Project brought 100 new palm trees, new medians, curbs, gutters and sidewalks on both sides of Stockton all the way from Broadway to 65th Street. This landscaping project was funded by contributions from Sacramento City, Sacramento County, Sacramento Housing and Redevelopment Agency, and the SBP.
With the help of Sacramento Regional Transit District, there are new trash receptacles at each bus stop. The Boulevard is looking better and better… less garbage and improved amenities.
The SBP is actively and aggressively working with law enforcement to make this area a safer place to work and shop. The SBP contracts with Paladin Private Security to provide loitering and trespassing enforcement. Paladin is the uniformed eyes and ears on the Boulevard for the SBP; disrupting the pattern and behavior of potential criminal activities, by recognizing, recording, and reporting all suspicious activity.
The Safety On Stockton (S.O.S.) committee meets once a month on the first Thursday at 12:00 noon with all local law enforcement agencies; the Sacramento City Police, Sacramento County Sheriff, California Highway Patrol, and UC Davis Police. Discussions include how property and business owners can support law enforcement and methods to improve safety and security at individual properties.
Sacramento County District Attorney Community Prosecutor, Sacramento City Neighborhood Services Department, Sacramento County Neighborhood Services and SMUD also comes to the table to discuss safety and security issues, updates on program opportunities and projects.
Some recently implemented solutions include adding correct "customer parking only" signage for improved enforcement, adding chain-offs at prioritized parking entrances, holding business watch training, installing Crime Watch Zone signage and taking an inventory of street lights to report burn-outs for maintenance.
The SBP is also working with local Problem Oriented Police (POP) officers to plan long term security and safety solutions - all in an effort to improve the overall safety of Stockton Boulevard.
